How to Increase Avvo Rating

How to Increase Avvo Rating 1

Avvo is one of the few specialized online review platforms that focus on the legal industry. Many lawyers have profiles on Avvo without even knowing it. This is because Avvo automatically generates profiles for lawyers using information from the Bar.

If you have started to manage your Avvo profile, there’s no better time to try and increase your Avvo rating. Continue reading this guide to learn about some methods that could help you distinguish yourself on Avvo.

How to Increase Your Avvo Rating

  1. Ask Your Clients In Your Office
  2. Follow Up With Your Clients and Ask
  3. Send Them a Text or Email

Here’s what goes into each of these steps:

1. Ask Your Clients in Your Office

Working as a lawyer means building a relationship with each of your clients. Without your help, your clients may struggle or lose their case entirely. This puts you in the unique position to get a great review from the clients who you help – even if you don’t win every single case.

As you are wrapping up the case and holding final meetings with your clients, don’t hesitate to ask them for a review. Specifically, point them to your Avvo profile so that you can continue to get new clients through your profile.

The majority of your clients would be happy to leave a review if the are asked, so don’t be shy with this step.

2. Follow Up With Your Clients and Ask

A few months after their case has concluded, there is nothing to stop you from reaching out, checking in on them, and asking for a review. With each review, clients are asked to give you a rating to better distinguish the quality of your work. These ratings will continually be averaged together to come up with the rating that is displayed on your profile.

Many lawyers choose to build time into their schedule to call their clients to see how they’ve been doing. If there are any loose ends with the case, you can certainly use that as the focus of your call.

No matter the approach you take, you should always end these conversations with a clear request for an Avvo review.

3. Send Them a Text or Email

Another common way to increase your Avvo rating is to send out texts or emails that ask for an Avvo rating and review.

Depending on how many clients you work with, and how much free time you have, there are two ways you can do this:

  1. Manually
  2. In Bulk

When sending messages manually, you will be using your phone and email to send out individual emails to each client of yours. Sometimes, this may take a few minutes every month. If you have a heavy caseload, it may take significantly longer to reach out to each client.

That’s where online review management tools come into play. You can use these tools to send messages in bulk. By uploading a CSV file with your client’s first name, phone number, or email address, you can send dozens of requests at once.

Sending texts and emails also reaches your clients on devices that allow the to leave a review then and there. This makes this approach all the more effective when it comes to increasing your Avvo rating.

Keeping a close eye on your Avvo rating can help you distinguish yourself as a superb lawyer and amongst your competition. Ask your clients for ratings and reviews through a combination of these methods to get the best results and to boost your rating!
